Ajman Come from Behind to Beat Al Nasr and Claim Third League Win

Ajman came from behind to secure a thrilling 2-1 win over Al Nasr at Al Maktoum Stadium in Matchweek 4 of the ADNOC Pro League.

Waleed Azaro and Saad El Hadani scored for Ajman in the 65th and 73rd minutes, respectively, after Ajdin Hrustic had given Al Nasr the lead in the 26th minute.

The victory took Ajman to nine points in sixth place, while Al Nasr remained on four points in eighth.

Al Nasr made the stronger start and threatened the Ajman goal as early as the ninth minute when David Petrovic fired a shot from inside the penalty area just wide of goalkeeper Ali Al Hosani’s goal.

The hosts eventually made their early pressure count in the 26th minute, with Hrustic finding the net from inside the penalty area to give Al Nasr a 1-0 lead that they carried into half-time.

Al Nasr continued to apply pressure after the restart and came close to doubling their advantage in the 50th minute. A cross found Chris Bedia inside the area, but Al Hosani reacted well to intervene and keep Ajman in the contest.

The visitors found their way back into the match in the 65th minute when Azaro met El Hadani’s cross with a well-placed header to level the score.

Eight minutes later, Ajman completed the turnaround. Jobson Santos saw his penalty saved by Ahmed Al Balushi, but El Hadani reacted quickest to the rebound and found the net in the 73rd minute to put the visitors 2-1 ahead.

Ajman held on to complete an impressive comeback and secure their third victory of the ADNOC Pro League season.

The result also handed Al Nasr their first home defeat in the ADNOC Pro League since losing to Bani Yas in January.

Hrustic, meanwhile, became only the third Australian player to score for Al Nasr in the ADNOC Pro League, following Mark Bresciano and Brett Holman.

Azaro continued his impressive record against Al Nasr, scoring his fifth ADNOC Pro League goal against them. The Moroccan striker has also scored four of Ajman’s last six league goals against Al Nasr.
