Sharjah FC were crowned champions of the AFC Champions League 2 after a dramatic 2-1 win over Singapore’s Lion City Sailors in the final held at Bishan Stadium.
The UAE side dominated most of the match and created several clear chances before finally breaking through in the 74th minute with a goal from Firas Ben Alarbi.
Lion City equalized deep into stoppage time in the 92nd minute, but Sharjah responded immediately. Marcus Meloni struck in the 97th minute to seal a historic win and the club’s first-ever continental title.
Sharjah’s path to the trophy began by topping Group C with 13 points. They then defeated Jordan’s Al Hussein and Shabab Al Ahli in the knockout stages via penalty shootouts.
In the semifinals, they beat Saudi side Al Taawoun 2-1 on aggregate to book their place in the final.
