Al Wahda advanced to the Round of 16 of the AFC Champions League Elite after defeating Qatar’s Al Sadd 3–1 on Tuesday evening at Al Nahyan Stadium, in fifth round of the West region group stage.
Dusan Tadic scored twice, while Caio Lucas added a third in the 55th, 66th, and 87th minutes respectively.
Al Sadd’s only goal came through a penalty converted by Claudinho in the 3rd minute of first-half stoppage time.
With this result, Al Wahda moved to 13 points at the top of the West region standings, securing their place in the Round of 16. Meanwhile, Al Sadd remained on two points in 10th place.
Across five matches in the West region group stage, Al Wahda remained unbeaten, recording four wins and one draw.
