Khorfakkan and Al Wasl shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw at the Saqr Bin Mohammad Al Qassimi Stadium in Matchweek 7 of the ADNOC Pro League.
Khorfakkan took the lead in the first half, while Al Wasl had to wait until the final ten minutes to find their equalizer in a tightly contested encounter.
Al Wasl began brightly as Nicolas Gimenez produced the first real threat in the fifth minute, embarking on a solo run before unleashing a powerful effort that was superbly saved by Khorfakkan goalkeeper Rashid Abdalla Suhail.
The hosts’ early pressure paid off in the 11th minute when Tarik Tissoudali weaved his way past defenders inside the box before unselfishly squaring the ball to Pedro Pavlov, who calmly slotted home from close range to give Khorfakkan a deserved early lead.
Al Wasl came close to equalizing late in the first half when Brahian Palacios struck a curling free-kick that crashed against the crossbar.
Siaka Sidibe reacted quickly to fire the rebound goalward, but goalkeeper Rashid Suhail produced a stunning full-stretch save to preserve Khorfakkan’s advantage heading into halftime.
The visitors dominated possession in the second half and continued to press for an equalizer, which eventually arrived ten minutes from time. Abdelrahman Saleh fired a low strike from outside the box that deflected off Fabio Lima, wrong-footing the goalkeeper and nestling into the net to bring Al Wasl level.
Both sides pushed for a winner in the closing stages, but neither could find the decisive touch, and the match ended with the points shared.
The result leaves Khorfakkan in 10th place with eight points, while Al Wasl remain fourth on 14 points after seven rounds of play.
