Leonel Wamba scored a dramatic stoppage-time header to hand Bani Yas a 1-0 victory over Al Bataeh in matchweek 18 of the ADNOC Pro League.
The result lifts Bani Yas to 12th place on 14 points, while Al Bataeh remain bottom with 13 points.
Bani Yas created the first real opening through Nassim Chadli, who surged forward from midfield before unleashing a powerful strike that was well parried by Al Bataeh goalkeeper Abdulrahman Al Ameri.
Al Bataeh responded strongly and began to dictate proceedings. Nouha Dicko came close to breaking the deadlock in the 28th minute, but his effort failed to find the target despite promising build-up play.
Azizjon Ganiev was next to threaten after capitalising on a defensive error, only to see his attempt drift wide. The midfielder later struck the post as Al Bataeh pushed for the opener, coming within inches of taking the lead.
With the game seemingly heading for a draw, Bani Yas delivered the decisive blow. Deep into stoppage time, Wamba rose highest inside the box to power home a header and snatch all three points in dramatic fashion.
