Al Wasl and Shabab Al Ahli played out a 1-1 draw in the Dubai Derby that opened Matchweek 18 of the ADNOC Pro League at Zabeel Stadium on Wednesday evening.
After a competitive but goalless first half, the match came to life early in the second period.
Sergio Pereira put Al Wasl ahead in the 48th minute with a fine individual effort, giving the hosts the advantage.
Shabab Al Ahli responded by increasing their attacking intensity, with head coach Paulo Sousa introducing fresh options to shift the momentum.
The equaliser arrived in the 72nd minute when Saeid Ezatolahi found the net to bring the visitors level and ensure the contest remained finely balanced.
Despite late attempts from both sides to secure a winner, neither team was able to break the deadlock again.
The result sees Al Wasl move to 30 points in fourth place, while Shabab Al Ahli reach 42 points to remain at the top of the standings.
