Al Wahda secured a valuable 2-0 win over Ajman at Al Nahyan Stadium on Wednesday evening in the opening fixture of Matchweek 18 of the ADNOC Pro League, with both goals arriving in a decisive second-half spell.
After a balanced and goalless first half, the hosts raised their tempo following the break and translated their pressure into goals within five minutes.
Caio Canedo broke the deadlock in the 62nd minute, reacting quickly inside the penalty area to capitalise on defensive confusion and finish calmly past the goalkeeper.
Omar Khribin doubled the advantage in the 67th minute, rising to head home a precise cross from Dusan Tadic and put Al Wahda firmly in control.
The opening half had seen few clear-cut chances, with Ajman enjoying slightly more possession, but neither side was able to find the breakthrough. In the second half, however, Al Wahda’s efficiency proved decisive.
Ajman attempted to respond through substitutions and attacking changes, yet the home side managed the remainder of the match well to secure all three points.
With the win, Al Wahda move to 33 points and consolidate third place in the standings, while Ajman remain on 23 points in sixth position.
