Matchweek 17 Sees 26 Goals as Title Race Tightens

Matchweek 17 of the ADNOC Pro League saw the highest-scoring round of the season so far, with 26 goals recorded across all fixtures in an action-packed weekend.

Every match produced goals, home and away sides shared the victories evenly, and only one encounter ended in a draw — an entertaining 2–2 result.

The title race remains tightly contested between Al Ain and Shabab Al Ahli. Shabab Al Ahli cruised to a commanding 5–0 victory over Al Dhafra, equalling Al Ain’s professional-era record of 10 consecutive league wins.

Meanwhile, Al Ain responded with a dramatic 3–2 away win against Bani Yas to move to 41 points at the top of the table — level with Shabab Al Ahli, who still have a game in hand.

The battle for the upper positions also intensified. Al Wasl climbed to fourth place with 29 points, one point behind third-placed Al Wahda, with both sides holding a postponed fixture.

Al Jazira strengthened their grip on fifth place with 28 points, while Ajman moved up to sixth with 23 points.

Shabab Al Ahli and Al Wasl were the only teams to keep clean sheets during the round.

For Shabab Al Ahli, it marked their 12th clean sheet of the season, leaving them just one short of matching their club record of 13 in a single professional league campaign, set in 2016–17.

The round also featured four braces, scored by Mohammed Juma, Shahriyar Moghanloo, Waleed Azaro, and Caio Lucas.

Matias Palacios and Junior Flemmings each contributed two assists in a week that highlighted attacking quality across the league.it

Although Al Nasr registered the highest possession rate of the round at 70 percent, they were held to a draw by Khorfakkan.

Shabab Al Ahli led the attacking statistics, recording the most shots (22), the most shots on target (9), and the highest goal tally (5). Al Nasr and Al Jazira shared the lead in successful dribbles with nine each.

Individually, Guilherme Bala attempted the most shots with seven, scoring once. Matias Palacios created the most chances with seven, two of which were converted.

In goal, Amjad Alsayed and Adel Alhosani made four saves each, the highest of the round.
