Bani Yas returned to winning ways after securing a 2–0 victory over hosts Al Nasr at Al Maktoum Stadium, in the closing match of Matchweek 14 of the ADNOC Pro League.
Bani Yas took the lead just before half-time through Leonel Wamba, who headed home in the 45th minute to score his fourth league goal of the season, making him the club’s top scorer in the competition.
The visitors sealed the win in the 71st minute when Youssoufou Niakate added the second with a fine finish.
Bani Yas showed early attacking intent and came close in the seventh minute, but goalkeeper Ahmed Shambih denied Niakate in a one-on-one situation. The visitors then missed a penalty in the 14th minute through Saviour Godwin.
Al Nasr had opportunities to respond after the break, with Ramon Mierez missing an early chance, while a defensive error nearly gifted Bani Yas a second goal before the hour mark.
Niakate eventually doubled the lead, continuing his strong scoring record against Al Nasr in the league.
The result lifts Bani Yas to 11 points, while Al Nasr remain on 19 points in sixth place.
