Khorfakkan earned a valuable 1–0 away win over Al Wasl on Wednesday evening at Zabeel Stadium, in Matchweek 14 of the ADNOC Pro League.
The match was decided early, as Tarik Tissoudali scored the winning goal in the 18th minute following sustained pressure from the visitors.
The strike marked Tissoudali’s return to the scoresheet after a four-match scoring drought, his previous goal having come in Matchweek 9.
Khorfakkan goalkeeper Ahmed Alhosani was instrumental in preserving the lead, producing a crucial double save in the 37th minute to deny Al Wasl an equaliser. Al Wasl pushed forward in the second half in search of a comeback, increasing their attacking intensity.
In the 50th minute, the referee initially awarded a penalty to Al Wasl before overturning the decision after a VAR review, which also led to the cancellation of a red card shown to defender Abdalla Elrefaey.
The crossbar denied Al Wasl an equaliser in the 80th minute, after stopping a close-range header from Siaka Sidibe.
In the 8th minute of stoppage time (90+8), Khorfakkan goalkeeper Ahmed Alhosani continued his outstanding performance, producing a superb save to deny Al Wasl a certain goal.
Despite Al Wasl’s pressure, Khorfakkan remained solid defensively and held on until the final whistle.
The win lifts Khorfakkan to 15 points in tenth place, while Al Wasl remain fourth on 25 points.
