Al Wasl secured a dramatic 1–0 win over Al Jazira in the Matchweek 13 clash of the ADNOC Pro League, thanks to a stoppage-time winner from Renato Junior at Zabeel Stadium on Saturday.
The match appeared destined to end goalless until Renato Junior struck in the fourth minute of added time (90+4), sealing a valuable three points for Al Wasl. The win lifts Al Wasl to 25 points and third place in the standings, while Al Jazira remain fifth on 21 points.
Al Wasl enjoyed the upper hand for much of the first half, controlling possession and pressing forward with intent, but were unable to break through Al Jazira’s disciplined defence. Al Jazira, meanwhile, needed time to settle and struggled to build attacking momentum before the interval.
The second half was more balanced, with Al Jazira showing greater attacking freedom and creating promising situations, only to be denied by Al Wasl’s solid defensive organisation and alert goalkeeping. With neither side finding the breakthrough during regular time, Renato Junior’s late strike proved decisive, delivering a memorable victory for Al Wasl.
