Al Bataeh claimed a valuable 2-0 away win over Sharjah on Wednesday evening at Sharjah Stadium, in the rescheduled Matchweek 10 fixture of the ADNOC Pro League.
The first half saw Sharjah enjoy greater possession and attacking intent, controlling large spells of play in midfield and pushing forward in numbers.
Despite their dominance, the hosts struggled to break through Al Bataeh’s disciplined defensive setup, with most attacks ending around the edge of the penalty area. Al Bataeh, meanwhile, adopted a cautious approach, focusing on containment and looking to create opportunities on the counter, but without a real threat before the break, as the half ended goalless.
The match shifted decisively in the second half when Al Bataeh opened the scoring just one minute after the restart. Anatole Bertrand fired a powerful long-range strike from outside the penalty area in the 46th minute, giving the visitors the lead.
Sharjah attempted to respond quickly and thought they had equalised through Rei Manaj, but the goal was ruled out for a handball in the buildup. Al Bataeh capitalised on the momentum soon after, doubling their advantage in the 61st minute when Mohammed Juma finished confidently following an assist from Rashed Muhayer
With the win, Al Bataeh raised their tally to nine points, moving up to 13th place, while Sharjah remained on 11 points in 11th position.
