Kalba and Al Wasl played out an entertaining 2-2 draw in a four-goal thriller during matchweek 12 of the ADNOC Pro League on Wednesday.
After a goalless first half, both sides delivered a dramatic second period, producing four goals in an end-to-end contest that saw the lead change hands twice.
The result leaves Al Wasl in third place with 22 points, while Kalba sit seventh on 16 points.
Al Wasl made the breakthrough five minutes into the second half as Sergio Pereira opened the scoring with a composed finish inside the penalty area.
The move was crafted by a well-weighted pass that found Pereira in space, allowing the midfielder to latch onto the ball and fire a low effort beyond the goalkeeper’s reach.
Kalba responded four minutes after the hour when Shahriyar Moghanloo showed composure from the penalty spot, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way to restore parity.
Al Wasl regained the lead in the 75th minute through Ali Saleh, who demonstrated sharp instincts inside the box, picking up the ball and firing a powerful strike from a tight angle into the back of the net.
However, Kalba were not done. Nine minutes from time, Moghanloo struck again, capitalising on a costly error from Al Wasl goalkeeper Khaled Saif Alsenaani.
The keeper failed to deal with a corner delivery, allowing the ball to drop inside the six-yard box, where Moghanloo reacted quickest to poke home from close range and earn his side a deserved point.
