Bani Yas recorded their second victory of the season with a 2–0 win away to Al Dhafra at Hamdan bin Zayed Stadium, in Matchweek 10 of the ADNOC Pro League.
Bani Yas took control midway through the first half and opened the scoring in the 22nd minute when Leonel Wamba showed excellent technique to control a cross from Youssoufou Niakate before finishing calmly.
The goal meant that all three of Wamba’s league goals this season have come away from home.
The visitors nearly doubled their lead shortly afterwards, but a second goal was ruled out following a VAR review for offside in the build-up.
Bani Yas strengthened their advantage early in the second half as Saviour Godwin struck in the 57th minute, his effort from inside the penalty area deflecting off a defender and into the net.
The remainder of the match saw Bani Yas manage the game effectively to secure all three points.
The result lifts Bani Yas to seven points and 11th place in the standings, while Al Dhafra remain on 12 points in eighth.
