A first-half penalty from Omar Khribin proved decisive as Al Wahda edged past Khorfakkan with a hard-fought 1–0 victory in Matchweek 10 of the ADNOC Pro League on Sunday.
It was a tight and cagey contest, with both sides cancelling each other out for long periods and chances at a premium throughout the 90 minutes.
The win sees Al Wahda move up to second place on 21 points, while Khorfakkan remain 10th with 11 points.
The decisive moment arrived in the 22nd minute, when Khribin stepped up from the spot and showed great composure, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way to give Al Wahda the lead.
Al Wahda nearly doubled their advantage three minutes from time, as Brahima Diarra picked up the ball inside the penalty area, beat his marker and fired over the crossbar from close range.
Khorfakkan pushed for a late equaliser but were unable to restore parity, as Al Wahda saw out the closing stages to secure all three points.
