Khorfakkan returned to winning ways with an impressive 3–0 win over Bani Yas at Bani Yas Stadium, in the opening match of Matchweek 9 of the ADNOC Pro League.
The visitors made a strong start and took the lead early in the eighth minute when S. Amallah converted confidently from the penalty spot.
Khorfakkan maintained their control and doubled the advantage shortly before half-time, with Pedro Pavlov finding the net in the 40th minute to give his side a comfortable two-goal cushion at the break.
Bani Yas were denied a route back into the match when a first-half goal was ruled out following a VAR review, and their frustration continued early in the second half as Youssoufou Niakate missed a penalty in the 55th minute.
Khorfakkan goalkeeper Ahmed Hamdan produced an excellent save, with the crossbar also coming to his aid.
Khorfakkan completed the victory deep into stoppage time when substitute Tarik Tissoudali struck a superb direct free-kick in the 93rd minute to seal a dominant away performance.
The win lifts Khorfakkan to 11 points and ninth place in the standings, while Bani Yas remain on four points in the penultimate position.
