Bani Yas recorded their first victory of the ongoing ADNOC Pro League season with a commanding 4–1 win over Sharjah in Matchweek 8.
The visitors dominated throughout, scoring twice in each half, while Sharjah managed a late consolation goal.
The game burst into life from the outset as Sharjah’s defence failed to clear a loose ball in the area, allowing Leonel Wamba to pounce.
The striker met it with a crisp first-time volley, guiding the ball into the bottom corner after just three minutes to hand Bani Yas an early lead.
Wamba then doubled the advantage with another exquisite first-time volley, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance and cementing Bani Yas’ dominance.
Sharjah struggled to cope with the visitors’ attacking threat as Bani Yas asserted full control over the game.
The third goal came from the penalty spot as Saviour Godwin stepped up with composure, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way to make it 3–0 at the hour-mark.
The strike reinforced Bani Yas’ control and left Sharjah chasing shadows.
Bani Yas capped their scoring in style as Youssoufou Niakate latched onto a precise pass from Fawaz Awana Almesabi and expertly chipped the advancing Sharjah goalkeeper, Adel Alhosani, to make it 4–0.
The goal highlighted Bani Yas’ attacking fluidity and left the hosts reeling.
Sharjah finally pulled one back four minutes from time through Igor Coronado, who calmly converted a penalty into the bottom-right corner, beating Fahad Aldhanhani.
While it offered some consolation, it did little to alter the emphatic nature of Bani Yas’ victory.
The result lifts Bani Yas to 12th place with four points, while Sharjah remain 11th with seven points.
