A thrilling encounter at the Bani Yas Stadium ended in a 2-2 draw between Bani Yas and Dibba in Matchweek 7 of the ADNOC Pro League, as Bani Yas collected their first point of the season.
The match delivered high drama in the closing stages, with both teams finding the net in the final ten minutes of play to share the spoils in a tense contest.
Despite dominating possession with 65.8% of the ball in the first half, Dibba struggled to translate their control into genuine scoring chances.
Bani Yas, however, made their early opportunity count, taking the lead in the 12th minute through Suhail Ahmed Al Noobi’s composed finish after an excellent through pass from Otabek Shukurov.
The goal marked Bani Yas’ first in seven matches this campaign, ending their attacking drought in style. Shukurov’s perfectly weighted long-range pass split the defense, allowing Alnoobi to control inside the box and slot a low drive into the far corner.
Dibba’s best opportunity to equalize came early in the second half when Mohanad Ali broke through the Bani Yas backline and unleashed a powerful effort, only to be denied by a brilliant save from goalkeeper Fahad Al Dhanhani, who dived at full stretch to preserve his team’s lead.
Bani Yas nearly doubled their advantage in the 65th minute through Youssoufou Niakate, who was released down the left flank by another superb pass from Shukurov. The forward cut inside smartly and fired just wide of the post, narrowly missing a chance to make it 2-0.
Dibba responded strongly and were rewarded in the 72nd minute when Khalid Abdullah timed his run perfectly to meet Carlos Vinicius’ pinpoint cross, turning it home with a precise and clinical finish to restore parity.
Moments later, Niakate almost restored the lead for Bani Yas with a brilliant solo run, dribbling past two defenders before chipping just wide of the bottom corner.
His persistence finally paid off five minutes from time, as he rose highest inside the area to head into an empty net after the Dibba goalkeeper misjudged Khamis Saleh Al Hammadi’s cross, putting Bani Yas 2-1 ahead and sparking celebrations among the home fans.
But their joy was short-lived. In the 89th minute, Dibba’s Iraqi forward Mohanad Ali struck a stunning equalizer, picking Iago Santos’ cross and twisting his body to fire a powerful shot into the far bottom corner, leaving Al Dhanhani with no chance and sealing a dramatic 2-2 draw.
The result means Bani Yas remain bottom of the table with just one point, while Dibba sit 13th place on two points after seven rounds of play.
