Bani Yas will host Ajman on Friday at the Bani Yas Stadium in third day of Matchweek five in the ADNOC Pro League.
Bani Yas sit bottom of the table without a point and are still searching for their first win of the season. Ajman arrive on the back of a morale-boosting 1-0 victory over Sharjah that lifted them into eighth place with six points.
The two clubs have met 22 times in the ADNOC Pro League. Bani Yas hold the upper hand with 10 wins compared to five for Ajman, while seven matches have ended in draws.
Bani Yas have also won the last two meetings, though they have only managed three consecutive wins over Ajman once, between 2013 and 2014.
This season has been particularly difficult for Bani Yas.
They have failed to collect a point or score a goal in their opening four games, the first time in the club’s history they have begun a league campaign in such fashion.
Ajman, in contrast, have found momentum with back-to-back wins and are aiming for three straight victories for the first time since January.
Defensively, Ajman have kept two consecutive clean sheets, something they have not achieved in three straight matches since April–May 2024.
The team has also shown a pattern of growing stronger after halftime: their last six matches were goalless at the break, while their last nine goals scored and last four conceded have all come in the second half.
Individually, Bani Yas rely heavily on Suhail Ahmed Alnoobi, who has been a consistent threat against Ajman with eight direct goal contributions, three goals and five assists, including four of the last eight goals Bani Yas have scored in this fixture.
On the other side, Boris Kabi and Ben Alarbi are the top scorers in meetings between the teams with four goals each. Youssoufou Niakaté, Suhail Alnoobi, and Fawaz Awana follow with three goals apiece.
Overall, Bani Yas have scored 46 goals against Ajman in the Pro League, compared to 30 for Ajman, underlining a historical edge for the “Sky Blues.”
