The Saqr bin Mohammad al Qassimi Stadium will be the stage for the Eastern Coast Derby on Wednesday evening, as Khorfakkan host Kalba in Matchweek 5 of the ADNOC Pro League.
Khorfakkan enter the clash in 11th place with four points from one win, one draw, and two defeats. Kalba have made a brighter start, sitting sixth with seven points after two wins, a draw, and a single loss.
The derby has always carried a special intensity. In ten Pro League meetings between the sides, Kalba hold a slight advantage with four wins to Khorfakkan’s three, alongside three draws.
However, recent history favors Khorfakkan, who have lost only once in their last seven derbies against their coastal rivals, winning three and drawing three.
Form tells another story. Khorfakkan have managed just one victory in their last ten league games, with four draws and five defeats, conceding two or more goals in each of their last nine outings.
Kalba, meanwhile, have enjoyed a strong opening to the season, collecting seven points in four games as they push toward the top half of the table.
Derby records add further intrigue. Kalba have featured in 38 Pro League derbies, winning nine, drawing ten, and losing 19. Khorfakkan have played 34, recording nine wins, eight draws, and 17 defeats.
On the scoring front, Peniel Mlapa leads all scorers in this derby with four goals, followed by Ahmed Amer with three.
Khorfakkan’s last seven goals against Kalba came from seven different players, all from inside the penalty area.
Kalba, in contrast, have demonstrated range with five goals scored from outside the box. Overall, Kalba have netted 14 times in derby meetings, compared to Khorfakkan’s 12.
