Al Ain secured a dramatic 3-2 victory over Dibba in Matchweek 2 of the ADNOC Pro League, thanks to three headed goals, including a stoppage-time winner from El Houssien Rahmi.
The visitors started strong and took control of the first half through their star striker, Laba Kodjo.
He opened the scoring in the 13th minute with a header assisted by Erik Jorgens, before doubling Al Ain’s lead in the 33rd minute with another precise header from an Alejandro Romero cross.
The brace took Laba’s tally in the ADNOC Pro League to 122 goals in 131 appearances, and three of Al Ain’s last six goals against Dibba have come from him.
Despite Al Ain’s dominance in the opening 45 minutes, Dibba came out in the second half with renewed determination.
Carlos Vinicios reduced the deficit in the 48th minute, and just six minutes later, Mohanad Ali struck the equalizer, sending the home crowd into celebrations.
Dibba’s rapid counterattacks created further danger, with Mahmoud Al Mardi coming close to turning the game on its head with a shot that missed narrowly in the 64th minute.
But Al Ain refused to leave without all three points. In the 96th minute, substitute El Houssien Rahmi rose highest to head home the winner, completing a night of decisive aerial dominance for the Boss.
The victory lifted Al Ain to six points at the top of the table for now, while Dibba remain pointless after two matches.
