Bani Yas and Kalba played out an entertaining 2-2 draw at Bani Yas Stadium in matchweek 26 of the ADNOC Pro League, with both teams sharing the points in their final game of the season.
The result sees Bani Yas conclude their campaign in 12th place with 27 points, narrowly avoiding the relegation zone, while Kalba finish in 9th position on 32 points, securing a mid-table spot.
Kalba made a strong start to the match and took the lead just 25 minutes in.
The breakthrough came from the penalty spot. Mehdi Ghayedi calmly stepped up and slotted the ball past the goalkeeper, sending him the wrong way to give the visitors a 1-0 advantage.
Bani Yas responded in the second half with renewed energy. Ten minutes after the restart, midfielder Fawaz Awana Almesabi rose above the Kalba defense to nod a perfectly delivered cross from Andrei Burca, leveling the score at 1-1.
The home side continued to push forward and were rewarded again in the 68th minute. This time, it was Bernard Faye who found the back of the net, capitalizing on a smart play by Abdallah Al Balushi, who cleverly laid the ball off for Faye to finish confidently.
The goal put Bani Yas ahead for the first time in the match.
However, Kalba were not done yet. In the closing minutes of the encounter, Bernard Faye – now playing the role of spoiler – pounced on a rebound inside the box to score his second goal of the night, this time for Kalba, and bring the game level at 2-2. His late strike ensured that Kalba would not leave empty-handed.
The match was a fitting conclusion to the season for both sides, showcasing moments of quality, determination, and drama as they wrapped up their respective league campaigns.
