Al Wasl pulled off a strong comeback to defeat Al Bataeh 3-1 in Matchweek 22 of the ADNOC Pro League.
The match, played at Khalid bin Mohammed Stadium, started with an early shock for Al Wasl as Ulrich Sidoine gave Al Bataeh the lead in just the 5th minute with a powerful long-range strike.
Remarkably, it was the first goal Al Wasl had conceded from outside the box all season.
Al Wasl responded with growing pressure and attacking intent.
Fabio De Lima came close to equalizing in the 36th minute with a shot that drifted just wide, but the breakthrough came minutes later.
Siaka Sidibe leveled the score in the 38th minute, finishing off a well-worked move to bring his side back into the game.
Just before the break, Al Wasl completed the turnaround.
In the 43rd minute, Nicolás Giménez sent in a perfect cross that was met by De Lima, who headed home Al Wasl’s second.
In the second half, Al Bataeh pressed to find a way back, but Al Wasl managed the game well.
A near third came in the 75th minute when a header from Jônatas was cleared off the line just before João Pedro could pounce.
The win was sealed deep into stoppage time. In the 91st minute, Caio Canedo added Al Wasl’s third with a composed finish, marking a personal milestone as he reached his 100th goal in the UAE Pro League.
The result lifts Al Wasl to third place in the table with 37 points, while Al Bataeh remain 12th on 21 points.
