Joao Pedro put Al Wasl in front after 20 minutes when Siaka Sidib rocketed his shot across the floor as goalkeeper Alshamsi brilliantly parried it away, and the ball fell to the Brazilian man, who poked in the rebound.
Rodrigo Oliveira made a nice move on the right flank and sent a pinpoint cross into the penalty area, where Joao Pedro whipped his shot into the back of the net in the 45th minute, to cement his side's lead.
Ruben Filipe reduced the deficit in the stoppage time of the first half after beating Al Wasl's goalkeeper Mohamed Ali from the tightest angle.
Goncalo De Oliveira rescued a point for Al Wahda four minutes before the time with a clinical finish from a close range.
The result means that Al Wasl sit fourth with 34 points, while Al Wahda are third with 36 points.
