Al Wahda secured a dramatic 2-1 win over Al Ain in Matchweek 18 of the ADNOC Pro League, moving up to third place in the standings.
The match at Al Nahyan Stadium saw Al Ain take the lead in the first half before Al Wahda responded with two second-half goals, including a dramatic winner deep into stoppage time.
Al Ain played with ten men from the 30th minute after Fabio Cardoso was sent off.
The first half was a tense battle, with both teams cautious in their attacking approach.
Al Ain broke the deadlock in the 28th minute when Abdulkarim Trawri rose highest to head in a pinpoint cross from Erik Jorgens.
Their lead was short-lived, as just two minutes later, Fabio Cardoso received a red card for kicking an Al Wahda player in the face.
Al Wahda dominated possession in the second half, capitalizing on the extra man to launch waves of attacks.
Despite creating several dangerous chances, they struggled to find the breakthrough due to poor finishing and Al Ain’s disciplined defense.
The pressure finally paid off in the 68th minute when Facundo Daniel finished off a well-placed cross from Ruben Filipe to bring Al Wahda level.
With momentum on their side, Al Wahda pushed relentlessly for a winner, missing multiple opportunities before finally breaking through in the dying moments.
Substitute Brahima Diarra found the net in the 95th minute, sealing a dramatic victory for the home side and sending the fans into celebration.
With this win, Al Wahda move up to 31 points, overtaking Al Ain, who remain on 29 points in fourth place.
