Khorfakkan secured a dramatic 2-1 win over Al Wasl in Matchweek 18 of the ADNOC Pro League, completing a season double over their opponents.
The match at Saqr bin Mohammed Al Qasimi Stadium saw Kwon Kyung score a stoppage-time winner, giving Khorfakkan their third consecutive league win and a crucial three points.
Al Wasl started strong, controlling 59% possession and creating several early chances. In the 33rd minute, Braian Ramirez finished a precise pass from Aylton Filipe, putting Khorfakkan ahead despite Al Wasl’s attacking dominance.
The visitors equalized in the 55th minute when Soufiane Bouftini reacted quickly to a rebound from Fabio De Lima’s shot. Al Wasl almost took the lead minutes later, but Abdalla Elrefaey cleared a deflected shot off the goal line.
Both teams pushed for a winner, and Khorfakkan nearly regained the lead in the 71st minute, but Ailton Filipe’s effort went just over the bar.
Just when the match seemed destined for a draw, Kwon Kyung rose above the defense in the 94th minute, scoring a powerful header to secure the victory.
The win lifts Khorfakkan to eighth place with 24 points, while Al Wasl remain in sixth with 27 points.
