Al Wasl finally ended their away struggles with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Dibba Al Hisn at Saqr bin Mohammad Al Qassimi Stadium in Matchweek 15 of the ADNOC Pro League.
The win marks their first win on the road this season, lifting them to seventh place with 21 points, while Dibba Al Hisn remain in 13th place with just 9 points, edging closer to the relegation battle.
Dibba Al Hisn had the first real opportunity in the 9th minute, with a strike that narrowly missed the target.
They found the breakthrough in the 33rd minute, as Midana Bigna pounced on a costly mistake from Al Wasl goalkeeper Khalid Alsenaani, stealing possession before slotting the ball into the net to put Dibba Al Hisn ahead.
This goal ended Al Wasl’s streak of seven consecutive clean sheets against newly promoted teams.
Al Wasl responded in the 41st minute, with Joao Pedro reacting quickest to a loose ball inside the box and finishing clinically to level the score at 1-1, bringing an evenly contested first half to a close.
The second half saw Dibba Al Hisn’s goalkeeper, Adel Abu Baker, pull off a heroic double save in the 56th minute, denying Fabio De Lima’s powerful left-footed shot, before stopping Ali Saleh’s close-range rebound.
However, Al Wasl’s relentless pressure paid off, as they turned the game around with two quick goals in just two minutes. Joao Pedro completed his brace in the 64th minute, calmly finishing a well-worked attacking move to put Al Wasl ahead for the first time in the match.
Ali Saleh extended the lead in the 66th minute, rising above the defense to bury a powerful header into the net, making it 3-1.
In the 81st minute, Khalid Al Senani produced a crucial save, tipping a dangerous header over the bar to deny the hosts. However, Dibba Al Hisn’s persistence finally paid off in the 83rd minute, as Haithem Jouini powered home a header to reduce the deficit to 3-2.
