Cartabia put Shabab Al Ahli in front after 38 minutes when he successfully converted from a penalty spot and stroked the ball into the bottom corner.
Four minutes later, Mateus Lima cemented the Dubai-based side's lead after Guilherme Da Silva teed up the Brazillian player outside the box, and Lima cut inside the box and nodded the ball into the far side of the net.
Guilherme Da Silva turned from a scorer to a provider as he picked up the ball inside the box and fired a curling effort from a tight angle to make it 3-0 before the break.
Rocky Marciano reduced the deficit for Ajman a minute before the time with a curling effort from inside the box.
The result means that Shabab Al Ahli sit first with 41 points, while Ajman are 8th with 19 points.
