Kalba pulled off a sensational last-minute comeback to defeat Sharjah 2-1 in Matchweek 15 of the ADNOC Pro League.
Sharjah took the lead through Caio Lucas in the 82nd minute, but Mehdi Ghayedi turned the game on its head, scoring the equalizer in the 86th minute before netting a dramatic 96th-minute winner.
The result moves Kalba to seventh place with 21 points, while Sharjah remain second with 37 points, missing a golden opportunity to close in on the league leaders.
The first half ended goalless, despite Sharjah controlling possession and pushing forward in search of an opening.
Kalba had the best chance of the half in the 38th minute, when Mehdi Ghayedi’s powerful shot smashed against the crossbar, denying them the lead.
Sharjah's breakthrough finally came in the 82nd minute, when Caio Lucas pounced on a rebound after his initial header was saved, slotting the ball into the net to put Sharjah ahead.
However, Kalba responded almost immediately.
Just four minutes later, Mehdi Ghayedi’s free-kick took a crucial deflection off a Sharjah defender, wrong-footing goalkeeper Adel Al Hosani and finding the back of the net to level the score at 1-1 in the 86th minute.
The defining moment of the match arrived deep into stoppage time.
In the 96th minute, Mehdi Ghayedi completed his brace with a stunning winner, sending Kalba’s fans into wild celebrations and securing a dramatic victory.
