ADIB Cup Semifinal Lineup Complete After Goal-Laden Quarterfinals

The semifinal lineup of the ADIB Cup is officially complete, following an action-packed quarter-final stage that produced 27 goals across the second-leg fixtures.

Only one match across both legs ended without goals — the first leg between Al Jazira and Al Wasl.

Experience proved decisive at this stage of the competition. Al Jazira advanced to the semifinals for the 11th time, Al Wahda reached this round for the 10th time, Al Ain qualified for the 8th time, and Al Nasr earned their 6th appearance in the last four.

Al Wahda were the comeback specialists of the round. After trailing 2–0 in the first leg, they fought back to draw 2–2 with goals in the 89th and 99th minutes.

The second leg brought an almost identical storyline: Al Wahda were on the brink of elimination until the 82nd minute, before scoring the equaliser and then the decisive winner in the 93rd minute.

The 27 goals scored in the quarter-finals were split almost evenly — 14 in the first halves and 13 in the second halves.

Open-play goals dominated with 19, while eight goals came from set pieces, including six from corner kick situations.

While the first-leg matches featured two long-range goals (from Igor Coronado and Matías Palacios), none of the second-leg fixtures produced goals from outside the penalty area.

Al Ain were the most efficient attacking team, scoring seven times across their two matches against Sharjah (3–1 in the first leg and 4–2 in the second).

Al Wahda registered the highest number of shots with 39 attempts, while Al Nasr led the dribbling statistics with 26 successful take-ons.

Mateus Lima finished the round with three goals, although his efforts were not enough for Shabab Al Ahli to progress.

Five players scored twice: Brahima Diarra, Matías Palacios, Mehdi Ghayedi, Abdoulaye Toure, and Soufiane Rahimi.

Dušan Tadić created the most scoring chances (11) and provided three assists.

Goalkeeper Ahmed Shambieh delivered one of the standout individual performances of the quarter-finals, making eight saves — the highest total in this round — and stopping two penalties, playing a decisive role in sending Al Nasr to the semifinals.
