Brahima Diarra scored twice in the second half as Al Wahda overturned a 1-0 deficit to beat Khorfakkan 2-1 and seal a 4-3 aggregate victory, booking their place in the ADIB Cup semi-finals.
Khorfakkan made the brighter start and took the lead after 17 minutes when Lourency Do raced onto a precise through ball from Abdalla Ali Hassan before drilling a low finish into the bottom corner.
But the hosts’ hopes suffered a major setback just after the hour mark when Pedro Pavlov was shown a straight red card for a reckless challenge on Reza Ghandi Pour.
With Khorfakkan reduced to ten men, Al Wahda increased the pressure and were rewarded eight minutes from time.
A neat one-two between Diarra and Dusan Tadic opened up space on the edge of the area, allowing Diarra to unleash a superb strike into the top corner to level the match.
Deep into stoppage time, Diarra sealed the comeback and Al Wahda’s passage to the last four, reacting quickest to steer a rebound and complete his brace.
The tie had been finely balanced after a 2-2 draw in the first leg at Al Nahyan Stadium, but Diarra’s late heroics ensured Al Wahda will continue their pursuit of the ADIB Cup title.
