Al Wahda produced a sensational fightback to overturn a two-goal deficit and book their place in the ADIB Cup quarter-finals with a 4-2 gameweek two victory over Ajman, sealing a 5-3 aggregate triumph.
Ajman looked destined for the last eight after racing into a deserved 2-0 lead inside the opening 22 minutes.
Lithierry Silva went close when his effort struck the post from Dino Hotić’s incisive through ball, before Waleed Azaro broke the deadlock on 20 minutes, drifting unmarked into the box to slot home from Junior Flemmings’ precise pass.
Moments later, Flemmings doubled the advantage with a moment of individual brilliance, weaving past two defenders before finishing sharply from a tight angle.
But just as Ajman appeared in full control, Al Wahda clawed their way back into the tie.
In the 29th minute, Dusan Tadic linked up neatly with Facundo Daniel before dispatching a calm low strike into the bottom corner, offering his side a vital lifeline.
The second half began in dramatic fashion as substitute Bernardo Folha made an instant impact, levelling the score just 21 seconds after the restart.
Pouncing on a poor defensive clearance, he combined with Tadic in a slick one-two before finishing confidently from a tight angle.
From that point, the momentum swung decisively. Omar Khribin turned the contest on its head at the hour mark, converting from the penalty spot with composure, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way.
The Syrian international then wrapped up the victory late on, finishing from close range after another pinpoint delivery from Tadic to complete his brace.
It was a dramatic turnaround that highlighted Al Wahda’s resilience, leadership and cutting edge in the final third.
From two goals down, they roared back to claim a famous win and secure their place in the quarter-finals of the ADIB Cup.
