Khorfakkan and Bani Yas played out a dramatic 2-2 draw at Saqr bin Mohammad al Qassimi Stadium in Gameweek One of the ADIB Cup, leaving everything to play for in the decisive Gameweek Two next Saturday at Bani Yas Stadium.
The first half delivered plenty of excitement, with both sides exchanging goals in an open contest.
Bani Yas opened the scoring in the 23rd minute when Brazilian forward Kayque Pereira’s strike deflected off goalkeeper Ahmed Hamdan Alhosani and crossed the line for an own goal.
Khorfakkan responded just before halftime, as Moroccan striker Tarik Tissoudali pounced in the 40th minute to equalize.
The second half followed the same script of twists and turns. Bani Yas regained the lead in the 54th minute with a stunning long-range effort from Joao Victor Wesner.
But Khorfakkan came back once again, leveling the match in the 68th minute through another own goal, this time from Khalid Mohamed Hashemi. Remarkably, the contest became the first match in ADIB Cup history to feature two own goals.
