Sharjah secured a narrow 1-0 win over Dibba in Gameweek One of the ADIB Cup, in a match played on Sunday evening at Dibba Stadium.
The decisive moment came in the 22nd minute, when Albanian striker R. Manaj converted a penalty to give Sharjah the lead. The goal also marked a milestone, as Manaj became the first Albanian player to score in the ADIB Cup.
Dibba started the match brightly and nearly surprised their visitors with a clear chance in the 9th minute, but Sharjah goalkeeper Darwish Mohammad produced an excellent save to keep the score level.
Afterward, Sharjah grew into the game and pressed forward, with Manaj’s penalty breaking the deadlock.
In the 36th minute, Sharjah almost doubled their advantage, but Dibba’s goalkeeper reacted quickly to deny them.
The second half saw Sharjah continue to push for a second goal, yet Dibba stood firm with disciplined defending.
The hosts made a few late attempts to equalize, but Sharjah’s backline held strong until the final whistle.
