Shabab Al Ahli have been crowned Arabian Gulf League U21 champions with one game to spare with a 2-1 win over Al Wasl in matchweek 25 after contenders Al Ain settled for a 2-2 draw with Al Jazira.
Mohamad Abdulla Essa netted two quick-fire goals in the second half, as he opened the scoring at Zabeel Stadium in the 63rd minute before doubling the guests' lead four minutes later.
Shehab Lashkari converted from the spot to reduce the deficit one minute from time, but it was too little too late, as Shabab Al Ahli sealed the three points to reach the 55-point mark.
Elsewhere, Al Ain settled for a 2-2 draw with Al Jazira to remain in second place, five points below leaders Shabab Al Ahli.
Sharjah remained third after suffering a 2-1 defeat to Ajman, while fourth-placed Ittihad Kalba drew 1-1 with Hatta. They are followed by Al Wahda who fell to a 1-0 defeat against Al Nasr.
Meanwhile, Bani Yas emerged 7-1 victorious over Al Dhafra and Fujairah beat Khorfakkan 2-1.
The UAE Pro League previously announced the rescheduling of the remaining Arabian Gulf League U21 matches, exploiting the current Arabian Gulf League break due to the teams’ AFC Champions League commitments between April 14th and 30th. The final matchday is now scheduled to take place on Wednesday, April 28th.
