The Arabian Gulf Cup final between Shabab Al Ahli and Al Nasr was held on Friday in a carnival-like atmosphere under the slogan “Year of the 50th Cup Final” and witnessed a number of unprecedented initiatives to mark the important event, which coincides with the UAE’s golden jubilee.
The event, which garnered wide praise, kicked off with a magnificent musical production that drew inspiration from the Year of the 50th Cup Final slogan and was complemented by a laser light show, water fountains, and a fireworks display.
Fans appeared on LED screens around the stadium as they watched the game live via Zoom. In addition, in-stadium interactive crowd noise was introduced for the first time, as the players were able to hear the fans’ chants throughout the match.
In a humanitarian gesture, the ceremony also witnessed the attendance of Egypt football star Momen Zakaria who was honored during halftime and participated in the closing ceremony by handing Shabab Al Ahli the trophy alongside UAE Football Association chairman Sheikh Rashid Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi and UAE Pro League chairman Abdulla Naser Al-Jneibi.
The closing ceremony also witnessed the honoring of the event's success partners, UAE Football Association chairman Sheikh Rashid Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, General Authority of Sports chairman His Excellency Dr. Ahmad Bin Abdullah Humaid Belhoul Al Falasi, the referees, and Shabab Al Ahli Uzbek player Jaloliddin Masharipov who was named Man of the Match.
