Pro League to Debut Latest Broadcast Technology in UAE Super Cup

The UAE Pro League announced that the highly anticipated UAE Super Cup between UAE Pro League champions Al Jazira and President’s Cup winners Shabab Al Ahli on Friday, January 7th, will be aired with the latest broadcasting technologies in the world.

Leading the way in use of this technology for the first time in the history of Asian football, the UAE Pro League is set to broadcast the match using 24 cameras, in addition to the launch of the ‘Live Vertical’ broadcasting system in a unique step that comes in line with changed media usage behaviour and the increasing consumption of videos on mobile devices. The vertical format is better suited to smartphones screens.

The UAE Pro League also revealed that preparations are ongoing for using drone mounted augmented reality technology and ground-based mobile cameras — a first for the region, in addition to using small cameras installed on Polecam, a lightweight, portable jib arm with a remote joystick controlling a high-precision pan-and-tilt head.

In related broadcast news, the UAE Pro League held a meeting last week with representatives of the right holding TV channels (Abu Dhabi Sports Channel, Dubai Sports Channel, and Sharjah Sports Channel).

The meeting aimed to discuss the channels' requirements and their pre-match plans for Friday's game, in addition to locating the channels' studios and examining the status of the facilities' preparedness.
