Arabian Gulf League U21 matchweek 18: Top spots remain unchanged

Al Ain returned to winning ways to further consolidate their position at the top of the Arabian Gulf League U21 standings, as the top spots remained unchanged in matchweek 18, which was held on Saturday and Sunday.

After losing their first game in the season against Fujairah, Al Ain bounced back with a 3-0 win over bottom-placed Al Dhafra at home, raising their tally to 41 points, five above second-placed Sharjah.

The King grabbed a 2-1 away win over Al Jazira to maintain the one-point gap with Al Wahda in third place after the Clarets cruised to a 3-1 win over Al Wasl.

Shabab Al Ahli also sit one point below Al Wahda as they sealed a comfortable 3-1 win over Khorfakkan away from home. Ittihad Kalba ended their three-game winless streak with a 1-0 win at home over Fujairah to remain fifth on 32 points.

Al Jazira and Al Wasl, who both lost their matchweek 18 encounters, remain tied on 27 points, with Al Wasl trailing Al Jazira by virtue of a head-to-head record.

Ajman remained in eighth place on 23 points, two above Bani Yas who moved up to ninth place after defeating the Oranges 2-0.

Fujairah remained on 20 points after losing to Ittihad Kalba and Khorfakkan’s defeat to Shabab Al Ahli left them in 11th place on 16 points.

Hatta grabbed a 2-0 win at home over Al Nasr to raise their tally on 15 points, three above the Blues and five more than Al Dhafra who linger at the bottom of the standings.
