UAE Pro League announces 2021-2022 season calendar

The UAE Pro League approved the calendar of its competitions forthe upcoming 2021-2022 season. The opening matchweek of the Arabian Gulf League will be held on August 19 and 20, followed by matchweek 2 on August 25 and 26, before the national team’s first training camp for the final round of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

The calendar is a product of a set of coordination meetings between the work groups in the UAE Football Association, the UAE Pro League, and professional club representatives. To ensure a unified vision and achieve the goals of the 2020-2030 strategic plan, a coordination meeting was also held with broadcast right holders.

The UAEPL confirmed that supporting the national team ahead of the final round of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers in September remains a national priority. It aligns with the goals of the Emirati professional football system, which targets a leading spot for the UAE national team at continental and international levels.

Four matchweeks will be held in September 2021, as matchweek 3 will be played on September 10 and 11, followed by matchweek 4 on 16, 17, and 18, matchweek 5 on September 23 and 24, and matchweek 6 on September 28 and 29.

Following the national team’s second training camp, two matchweeks will be held in October 2021. Matchweek 7 will take place on October 21, 22, and 23, followed by matchweek 8 on October 28 and 29.

Matchweek 9 will be held on November 2 and 3 ahead of the national team’s third training camp. Matchweek 10 is scheduled for November 20 and 21, while matchweek 11 will be played on December 25 and 26, followed by matchweek 12 on December 30 and 31. The first half of the season concludes with matchweek 13 on January 6 and 7, 2022.

The Arabian Gulf Cup will get underway on October 15 and 16. Meanwhile, the Arabian Gulf Super Cup match between Arabian Gulf League champions Al Jazira and UAE President's Cup titleholders Shabab Al Ahli will be held on January 10, 2022.
