Zamalek Triumph on Penalties to Set Up Cairo Derby Super Cup Final with Al Ahly

Zamalek booked their place in the Egyptian Super Cup final after a tense 5–4 penalty shootout victory over Pyramids, following a goalless draw at Al Nahyan Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

It was Seifeddine Jaziri who delivered the decisive moment, calmly slotting home the winning penalty to send the White Knights into a mouth-watering Cairo Derby showdown with Al Ahly for the title.

The game started with both sides showing plenty of caution rather than creativity.

The first half was largely uneventful, with both teams wary of conceding early.

Zamalek midfielder Mohamed Shehata came closest before the break, firing over the bar in the 36th minute, while Mahmoud Bentayg threatened with a solo run moments later, only to be denied by a resilient Pyramids backline.

The tempo slightly improved after the interval. Pyramids looked more adventurous, with Mahmoud Zalaka testing the Zamalek defense early in the second half. However, El Wensh was alert to clear the danger.

As the clock ticked down, both sides had golden chances to seal the win. Seifeddine Jaziri went inches wide from inside the box, and Ewerton Paixão wasted a late opportunity for Pyramids, blasting over from close range.

With the match locked at 0–0, the game went to penalties and Zamalek showed perfect composure.

They converted all five spot-kicks through Abdallah El Said, El Wensh, Nasser Maher, Mohamed Shehata, and Seifeddine Jaziri.

For Pyramids, Ziko’s miss proved costly after a superb save from Mohamed Awad, Zamalek’s penalty specialist, who once again rose to the occasion on the big stage.
