Al Ahly lifted the Egyptian Super Cup's title after a commanding 2-0 win against their bitter rivals Zamalek at Mohammed Bin Zayed Stadium, thanks to decisive strikes from Ashraf Bencharki and Marwan Attia.
The Moroccan winger Bencharki opened the scoring just before halftime, finishing a precise cross from Zizo with a low, clinical strike into the bottom corner. His goal gave Al Ahly a crucial lead heading into the break, setting the tone for the second half.
The Red Devils doubled their advantage in the 72nd minute through Marwan Attia, who was perfectly set up by Taher Mohamed’s clever run down the left flank. Attia calmly slotted the ball past the Zamalek goalkeeper, sealing the title for Al Ahly and leaving their rivals chasing shadows.
Zamalek had their moments in the first half. Trézéguet forced an early save from Awad with a low-driven strike after eight minutes, while Chico Banza came close with a skilful solo effort in the 35th minute that narrowly missed the target. Zizo nearly made it 1-0 for Al Ahly himself before halftime, but his curling effort flew over the bar.
The match saw a tense moment in the 80th minute when Seifeddine Jaziri appeared to pull one back for Zamalek, heading Naser Maher’s cross into the net. However, the goal was disallowed for a handball following a Video Assistant Referee review, extinguishing any hopes of a comeback.
From start to finish, Al Ahly’s defense was resolute, neutralizing the White Knights’ attacking threats and ensuring a clean sheet. The win not only highlights Al Ahly’s tactical discipline but also their clinical edge in high-stakes encounters against Zamalek.
