Al Wahda Strike Late to Beat Al Dhafra in Five-Goal Thriller

Ruben Filipe struck late in injury time to earn Al Wahda a 3-2 victory over Al Dhafra in matchweek 21 of the ADNOC Pro League at Al Nahyan Stadium on Friday.

The visitors needed just 19 minutes to take the lead when Waleed Ambar made a nice move from the right flank, beating Al Wahda's defenders Mahmoud Khamis and Majed Abdulla to send a low cross inside the penalty area, which was met by Guilherme Vieira after Makhete Diop initially missed it, with the Brazilian forward launching a powerful strike into the back of the net.

Seven minutes later, Ismaeil Matar swung in a brilliant cross into Al Dhafra's six-yard box, where Khalil Ibrahim flicked a firm header into the back of the net to restore parity.

Eight minutes before the two teams headed to dressing rooms for the break, Fabio Martins delivered an excellent cross into Al Dhafra's penalty area, where Adrien Silva towered above Pedro Pavlov to thump his header past Abdullah Al Nasri.

Two minutes before the hour-mark, Al Dhafra restored parity again when Mohamed Al Jneibi raced onto Vieira's incisive pass before beating goalkeeper Mohammed Al Shamsi with a clinical right-footed finish.

Filipe picked up the ball on the left-wing, and smashed the net with a powerful right-footed strike from the edge of the penalty area to seal the victory in the fourth minute of the stoppage time.

The result means Al Wahda sit second with 43 points, while Al Dhafra remain 12th with 19 points.
